In this episode, we continue our topic of offering good quality food to the people we care for and how this promotes a more dignified dining experience.

My guest, Jennifer Caraway, founder of the Joy Bus and the Joy Bus Diner, has created an amazing community in Phoenix, AZ, and an environment in which she looks forward to working every day. Jennifer says “I feel like the luckiest woman on the planet” – all this while delivering chef-inspired meals, free of charge to people with cancer who are home-bound in the Phoenix area.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What the Joy Bus program is and how it went from delivering food as an offer of love and support to one person, to a full-size restaurant and meals delivered to 50 people a week
  • Why companionship is just as important (if not more so) than the food
  • How Jennifer is able to partner with James Beard-nominated chefs and local farmers to offer fine dining meals
  • How the Joy Bus Diner supports the Joy Bus program and why the community is so important
