Right now is National Cereal Day, and to celebrate I am sharing three of my preferred Puppy Chow, or Muddy Buddies if you choose recipes that use far more cereals than just Chex cereal – S’Mores Puppy Chow, Cinnamon Roll Puppy Chow and Peanut Butter Crunch Puppy Chow!

Cereal is the most preferred breakfast meals in America.  At any offered time, there is possibly about 10 diverse kinds of cereal in my pantry and a box on the counter. And, not only is cereal fantastic for breakfast, it tends to make a fantastic bedtime snack.  Truly, let’s be honest… cereal is fantastic any time of day!

Final week, King Soopers had a sale on major family members size boxes of cereal for $1.99 – you had been permitted five boxes, and I purchased five boxes!  This is exactly where that added grocery spending budget dollars that I speak about in my month-to-month meal program comes in handy – now, I do not have to acquire cereal for about two months!

Other than getting eaten for breakfast, a single of the most preferred utilizes for cereal is possibly Rice Krispie Treats!  No a single can resist them, and they are so simple to make.  A different fantastic use of cereal is Chex Mix.  And you can use cereal in a savory way by breading chicken or pork chops with cornflakes!  The possibilities with cereal are endless,  but other than just consuming a major bowl of cereal, my preferred way to use cereal is to make Puppy Chow, or Muddy Buddies.

There are so lots of approaches to make Puppy Chow, and these 3 recipes beneath all use other cereals in addition to Chex to take the puppy chow to the subsequent level.

This is the Puppy Chow that Anthony was most excited for.  Golden Grahams are mixed with chunks of dark chocolate, mini marshmallows and rice Chex that has been tossed in melted milk chocolate and powdered sugar and cocoa powder.  If I could have only toasted the marshmallows initial with a blow torch, this Puppy Chow would be taken to an completely new level!

Components:

three cups rice chex cereal
1 1/two cups golden grahams cereal
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup dark chocolate chunks
1 cup milk chocolate
three/four cup powdered sugar
1/four cup cocoa powder

Directions:

In a huge microwave secure bowl, melt chocolate chips, stirring each and every 20 seconds till melted.  Add Chex and gently stir to combine.

In a gallon sized ziplock bag, combine cocoa powder and powdered sugar.  Add chocolate covered Chex and gently toss to totally cover.  Spread in an even layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment to dry.

Combine dried Chex with Golden Grahams, chocolate chunks and marshmallows and gently toss to combine.

DJ is genuinely excited about this Puppy Chow.  Cinnamon Toast Crunch is mixed with pecans and rice Chex that has bean coated in white chocolate and cream cheese and then tossed in powdered sugar and cinnamon.

Components:

three cups rice Chex cereal
1 1/two cups cinnamon toast crunch cereal
1 cup white chocolate
three/four cup powdered sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sliced almonds

Directions:

In a huge microwave secure bowl, melt white chocolate chips, stirring each and every 20 seconds unAl smooth. Add Chex cereal and gently stir to combine.

Add powdered sugar and cinnamon to gallon size ziplock bag and add white chocolate covered cereal to bag.  Gently toss to totally cover.  Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment to dry.

Mix with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and almonds.

 

This crunchy Puppy Chow combines Capt’n Crunch with rice Chex that has been covered in melted dark chocolate and peanut butter and then tossed in powdered sugar, mini Reeces cups and Reeces pieces for the ultimate peanut butter snack!

Components:

three cups rice Chex cereal
1 1/two cups Capt’n Crunch cereal
1 cup milk chocolate chips
two tbsp peanut butter
three/four cup powdered sugar
1/four cup cocoa powder
1 cup Reeces pieces
1/two cup mini Reeces cups, reduce in half

Directions:

In a huge microwave secure bowl, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter, stirring each and every 20 seconds till melted.  Add Chex and gently stir to combine.

In a gallon sized ziplock bag, combine cocoa powder and powdered sugar.  Add chocolate covered Chex and gently toss to totally cover.  Spread in an even layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment to dry.

Mix with Capt’n Crunch and Reeces.
